Greg Brewer is one of my favorite winemakers of all time. Not only because his wines are consistently delicious, but because he’s probably the most compelling wine personality I have ever met who talks about wine in such a way that I could sit for hours and be entertained in ways I thought were not possible. He is a master at storytelling and winemaking - a rare combination. His wines are typically made with whole cluster fermentation and no new oak is used, which gives way to only experiencing the pure fruit and nothing else to cover that up. I love the interesting nose on this wine as it delivers red cherry, cranberry, fresh ocean seaweed, wild desert sage, and earthy aromas that are constantly evolving in the glass. The palate brings flavors of black cherry, thimbleberry, Early Gray tea, iodine and a gorgeous minerality. The acidity, fruit, body, alcohol are all perfectly in balance and the length of this wine goes on for ages. One of my favorite Santa Rita Hills wines I’ve tasted. Drink now or enjoy over the next decade or more. Highly recommended.
