SANFORD Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills ‘Sanford & Benedict Vineyard’ 2019

The richest, most perfumed, and my favorite of the Sanford Pinot Noirs that I tasted, this one spends 18 months in 27% new French oak barrels. A phenomenal nose of bright black raspberry, spiced blue plum, wet autumn leaves, new leather, pink peppercorn, and sweet cinnamon pop from the glass. The palate is a complex melody of baking spice, black cherry, and a hint of toasted fennel seed. Medium-plus acidity, crunchy tannins, and a sweet yet savory finish complete the wine. 540 cases produced.
