Aged for 10 months in 30% new French oak barrels, the 2021 Petite Sirah from Optik is dark and brooding in the glass. Inky deep purple cored with a fluorescent pink rim, it produces vibrant aromas of baked black plum pie, toasted anise, eucalyptus, wet scorched earth, and sweet vanilla bean. Tannins are grippy, but the elevated acidity balances things out. Enjoy this one over the next 6 years or so.
