A variety of wine that you normally don’t see in the United States, the 2021 Valdiguie from Optik is unique and incredibly interesting. Aged entirely in new French oak barrels for 10 months, it’s intensely perfumed with acai berries, blue plum, sweet vanilla bean, and elderberry aromas filling the glass. Crunchy tannins and racy acidity complete the wine. Displaying a medium to dark purple core with a shimmering light purple rim, it’s beautiful to look at in the glass and is definitely a wine that you should search out and try for fun. About 500 cases were made.
