The 2020 The Setting Oakville Cabernet saw 80% new French oak for a total of two years and displays a scintillating deep purple core with a fluorescent dark pink rim in the glass. More earth and spice-driven on the nose, it also boasts notes of dark chocolate, cigar ash, dried sage, blackberry pie, lush vanilla, and wet earth. Tannins are sticky yet balanced with the mouthwatering acidity while finishing balanced with a black-fruit dominant note. This is a lovely wine by winemaker Jesse Katz. A small production of 350 cases was made. Better in 2024.
