The 2012 Oakville Station Merlot opens up with aromas of blackberry and black raspberries, woven together with anise, chocolate, sweet spices, violets and some toasted notes. It offers a soft, velvety texture, backed by fine, polished tannins with a wonderful inner-sweetness heading into the finish, where it leaves behind flavors of blackberry, sweet spices and mocha. Today, this possesses some very appealing flavors and characteristics, but will need another year or so of bottle age to settle down.(Best 2016-2022) - July, 2015 (JD)
