This stunning Zinfandel was planted in 1904 and contains a small amount of Alicante Bouschet. I love Zin that is born in the Russian River from old vines - you can smell and taste the history of the plants and terroir. A gorgeous deep purple with a neon rim in the glass, aromas of blackberry pie, black plums, huckleberry, toasted cinnamon stick, vanilla bean and cigar box are all prominent. Full bodied with medium plus acidity and grippy tannins complete the wine. It feels a touch hot on the palate but don’t let that deter you from giving this a try. This wine would pair perfectly with a beautiful ribeye or some barbecue brisket.
