My favorite Limerick Lane from the 2019 vintage, this blend of 98% Zinfandel and 2% Petite Sirah rests for 18 months in 8% new French oak. The single-block wine from their old vines which are over 100 years of age is absolutely stellar. The nose pops in the glass and doesn’t let you go. Aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, black plum and orange peel deliver the fruit while flavors of toasted baking spice, graphite and purple potpourri bring a savory component to the finish. It’s perfectly balanced and is one of the best Zinfandels that I’ve ever had. Whatever you think about Zinfandel, throw it out the window right now and get a bottle of this wine. In fact, get a case and drink one every year for the next twelve years. Highly recommended.
