Another stunner is the 2018 Bacigalupi Chardonnay from Gary Farrell that sees 35% new Frnech oak for 9 months. This Russian River Valley wine is a dead ringer for a Montrachet with its wonderful, toasty and powerful bouquet of crushed citrus, toasted almonds, bruised cedary herbs, lemon oil and a salty minerality. Delivering similar notes on the palate, it has a precise style, elevated levels of acidity and an incredible richness and depth. I would give this another year in the bottle and then drink over the next decade. Only 309 cases produced.
