This Chardonnay sees an interesting blend of 21% new French oak for 14 months, 28% wood cask for 8 months, 7% new Austrian oak for 14 months, and then prior to bottling, 100% stainless steel for 4 months. The One-Sixteen from Kosta Brown is dominated by notes of lemon zest, honeysuckle flower, tangerine zest, Granny Smith apple, struck matchstick, muted clove, dried sage, and wet white clay. It’s a medium-bodied effort, with puckering acidity and a lingering white-pepper finish. Less than 5000 cases made.
