GARY FARRELL Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley ‘Martaella Vineyard’ 2019

The 2019 Martaella Pinot Noir is aged for 15 months in approximately 40% new French oak and sports a glistening medium ruby core with a silvery rim. It’s a bit shy on the nose to start, but don’t let that fool you. Give it some time in the glass, and this Pinot Noir comes alive with scintillating notes of wild raspberry, crushed mountain huckleberry, spiced Christmas plum, Blood orange zest, and toasted baking spice. Tannins are crunchy but already beginning to integrate with the rich acidity and lush mouthfeel. Enjoy this for a decade or more. 601 cases were made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
