The Hallberg Ranch Pinot Noir is aged for 10 months in approximately 31% new French oak barrels. It starts off a bit earthy and meaty on the nose with aspects of wet earth, exotic spices, and dusty country road. As it develops in the glass, you are gifts additional notes of wild huckleberry, marionberry, orange pith, bitter herbs, and a hint of butterscotch. It all comes together nicely on the finish.
