A stunning Pinot Noir from Papapietro Perry, the 2020 Pommard Clones was aged for 11 months in 70% new French oak barrels. A glistening ruby core with a brickish rim in the glass, the nose explodes with aromas of black cherry, crushed wild strawberries, lavender flower, Blood orange oil, sweet cinnamon, and toasted cedary herbs. The palate is pure Russian River Valley with lush macerated strawberry, black cherry, and tilled earth tones. It’s a big, juicy, and fruit-forward Pinot Noir and one I thoroughly enjoyed. 548 cases were made.
