APERTURE Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley ‘Del Rio Vineyard’ 2021

Do you know how it’s hard to pick a favorite child? That’s how I feel about the 2021 Cabernets from Aperture. They are all so delicious and well-made, that it’s hard to pick which one I enjoy the most. The 2021 Del Rio Vineyard was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, that gives it more structure and spiciness, which I loved. Multifaceted and intriguing at every point, it explodes with aromas and flavors of blue and black fruits, cassis, violet flowers, cedary herbs, and fennel fronds. Light and powerful at the same time, it gifts near-perfect levels of acidity and tannins that envelop the entire mouth for minutes. 390 cases produced. Better in 2025. Highly recommended.
