The 2019 Rutherford Cabernet from Revana is the most perfumed and explosive on the nose of the samples I tasted and is aged for 20 months in 80% new French oak barrels. It marries vibrancy, sensuality, and intensity with a striking presence and a wonderful amount of tension on the mid-palate. Fresh boysenberry, baked plum, Christmas spices, cedary herbs, pine needle forest, sweet vanilla bean, and just a hint of dried spearmint are laced throughout this exotic wine. It’s hard to pick a favorite between the Rutherford and the Howell Mountain, but I believe this one is just a tad bit more balanced and downright delicious. Better in 2024 and then enjoy for the next two decades. Highly recommended.
