Steve Wells is crafting beautiful wines in Walla Walla and I’ve been very impressed with how his wines are getting better and better every year that I’ve had the pleasure of tasting them. The nose explodes with warm Christmas spices, black cherry, toasted clove, charred beef brisket and black olive aromas. The palate is just as meaty and savory, with the addition of blackberry, wet tilled earth and just a hint of pine needle. Acidity and tannins are both on the medium-high level. This isn’t an easy drinking Syrah - it’s incredibly complex and absolutely stunning. Pair this with a beautiful grilled ribeye steak. Enjoy this one over the next 8 years.
