A Merlot that is concentrated and structured in all the best ways, this blend of 82% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Malbec is a stunning effort from consulting winemaker Michel Rolland from Pomerol and a consultant to the world’s top wineries. It actually has a very high percentage of new French oak at 85%, and rests for almost 2 years. Gorgeous in the glass with dark purple and ruby tones and a neon rim. With notes of dark chocolate-covered cherry, dried rosemary, old leather, a hint of wet earth, and just a speck of menthol, this wine always over-delivers. The acid could be just a touch higher to balance out the medium-plus tannins, but I think this will improve with age. Give it another 2 years to settle, and then enjoy over the next decade or more. 2890 cases produced.
