The 2018 CVR from Quilceda Creek is a fantastic red in this vintage. It offers inviting aromas of dark/red currants, plums and blackberries which are woven together with graphite, cocoa powder, fresh mint, crème de cassis, tobacco, scorched earth, crushed stones and hints of fresh cut floral which all take shape. On the palate this possesses a medium-full body that is structured with nicely polished tannins making for a gorgeous mouthfeel. It continues to impress with its seamless texture and lovely finesse through the finish. A wonderful blend of 95% Cabernet, 4% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc that is accessible early on, yet should also have a drinking window that spans at least a decade.
