Deep violet in color and giving off aromas of slight oak and red fruit, the 2020 L’Ecole Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley opens nicely, though it is tightly wound. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 22 months in 20% new French oak. A pleasant mouthfeel with plentiful tannins is followed on the palate by tart blueberry, black raspberry, tobacco, and leather. This medium bodied effort shows licorice and plum/prune as it continues to open mid-palate through the medium length finish. The wine continues to build and gets more depth with time in the glass. The score reflects my assessment right now, but there is upside for those that are patient enough to lay this one down for a while.
