LONG SHADOWS Syrah, Columbia Valley ‘Sequel’ 2019

About 30% whole cluster was used during fermentation to enhance the mouthfeel and to add some tension to the backbone of the wine. It was aged for 18 months in 65% new French oak. John Duval is the winemaker who comes from the famous Penfolds brand in Australia. Showcasing a deep purple core with a neon purple and blue rim in the glass, it explodes with notes of blackberry candy, bitter herbs, crushed black olives, chard meat, and vanilla bean. Very savory and earthy on the palate, with crunchy tannins, wonderful acidity, and a lengthy finish. Better in 2024. 2130 cases produced.
