The 2021 Pere de Famille is young and will need 1-2 years in the bottle to come together, but you can see the promise in the wine immediately upon opening. Dark purple cored with a neon purple rim, it starts off with dark plum, cassis, boysenberries, new leather, and cigar aromas with shades of dried violets and wild blueberries on the palate. The combination of approximately 80% Cabernet, with the rest being Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, is wonderfully balanced. I loved the fresh mint and dusty note I get on the back palate while finishing strong with grippy tannins and a long finish. Highly recommended.
