DOSSIER Red Wine, Columbia Valley ‘Flagship’ 2021

The stunning Bordeaux blend that is comprised of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 12% Malbec, and 4% Petit Verdot comes from fruit spread across the Columbia Valley, including Ciel du Cheval on Red Mountain and Connor Lee Vineyard in the Wahluke Slope. Aged for sur lie for 21 months in French oak with 65% new, it sports a deep purple and bluish core with a lighter purple rim. Robust and rich on the palate, you are greeted with notes of blackberries, blue plums, cassis, tobacco leaf, toasted baking spices, and just a touch of those Red Mountain herbal tones. Complex and interesting, it’s a wine that makes you sit down and think about it while you enjoy it. Better in 2024. Only 365 cases made. Highly recommended and Editor’s Choice.
