DOSSIER Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley ‘Halo Reserve’ 2021

100% Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from 5 different vineyards in the Columbia Valley make up the 2021 Halo Reserve by Dossier and winemaker Billo Naravane. Resting for 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels and sporting a dark purple-ruby core with a neon purple rim, this wine approaches perfection. Crushed wild blueberries mix with blackberry compote, cassis, fresh tobacco leaf, milk chocolate, woodsy herbs, allspice, and vanilla bean notes to create an incredibly complex, sophisticated, and scrumptious Cab. Tannins are present but balanced, while the perfected levels of acidity carry the wine to a long-lasting finish that you can taste minutes after you are done. I tasted these wines out of bottle before the labels were on the bottles, and they are incredibly young. Allow yourself the patience to wait for a few years before you crack one open because it’s only going to get better with time. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
