The 2021 Matinee is a new-to-me Pinot Noir from superstar winemaker Paul Lato that is aged for 13 months in 20% new French oak and showcases a glimmering bright ruby core with a light purple rim in the glass. Classic notes of bright black cherry, fresh strawberry, cedary herbs, cracked white peppercorn, and earthy tones explode from the glass. It’s an understated and elegant Pinot that glides over the tongue and has absolutely no rough edges. Highly recommended.
