The 2015 Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon from Cliff Lede is sourced from their 20-acre estate vineyard at the base of Diamond Mountain. The vineyard consists of vines planted to gravelly loam, volcanic soils, which are influenced by the warm Calistoga days and cool breezes coming in from the pacific. These elements are all quite evident in this wine, as it begins with gorgeous aromatics of ripe dark fruits, sweet spices and spring florals which are laced with wonderful mineral nuances of graphite and dusty stones. On the palate this possesses a full body with a lovely plush texture, layered with ripe dark fruits, sweet spices, mocha and graphite that expand seamlessly across the palate. It possesses wonderful concentration as it comes to an end with a long, voluptuous finish. While this is simply delicious now it should also have a nice evolution ahead.
