This wine is the entry level Syrah from Saviah Cellars and is a wonderful value. Spending 17 months in 20% new French oak, it is dark garnet in color and shows a nose of black raspberry and green olive. Slightly tight and carrying ample tannins up front, it shows a great variety of flavors, Blackberry, escarole, kalamata olives, bone marrow and saline are all present up front. Such an interesting array of notes that all worked together. With time in the glass, dark blue and black fruit emerged and moved to the forefront, and this wine possessed a nice 30 second finish. Give this well constructed effort a few years of cellaring and enjoy for 10 more years.
