The 2021 La Cote Rousse boasts a pleasing dark purple and ruby core with a watery brick rim in the glass. It’s another stunning example of Syrah from the team at Betz, gifting notes of spice-covered blueberries, dried violet flowers, Blood orange zest, charred meats, pink peppercorn, and freshly pressed olive oil. Interesting and complex, it finishes with a lovely floral and herbal aspect on the mid-palate, with a full-bodied mouthfeel, balanced levels of acidity, and sweet rounded tannins finishing things off. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
