The 2018 Westwood Estate Mourvèdre begins with incredible fresh inviting aromatics of red berries, blueberries, and blackcurrants which are laced with spring florals, lavender, dark chocolate, tar, crème de cassis, and dried herbs, with underlying hints of black olives and exotic spice notes adding another level of complexity. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with remarkable over balance and poise. It shows a gorgeous fresh character, with a beautifully plus and layered mouthfeel that glides effortlessly into the long, powerful finish. Simply put, this is delicious in its youth, and should also age incredibly well for many years to come.
