The 2018 Patz & Hall Gap’s Crown is a bigger and bolder Pinot Noir than some of its siblings. Black cherry liqueur, freshly picked boysenberry, toasted baking spice, and orange caramel are present upon entry and then evolve into interesting flavors of ground espresso, umami, and scorched sage. It’s a well-balanced effort with perfect amounts of acidity and outstanding purity of fruit that ends with a lengthy black-fruited finish. 494 cases were produced.
