The 2021 Walala Pinot Noir from Sojourn boasts a medium ruby core with a blueish rim and was aged in 50% new French oak barrels. It does see 5% whole cluster during fermentation which helps add some earthiness and structure to the wine. Lovely red rose, black raspberry, and cherry cola notes explode from the glass, with secondary components of sandalwood, cedary herbs, and shaved chocolate playing second fiddle. The rich mouthfeel and sweet chewy tannins create the backbone of this wine which should age for 8-10 years. Just 550 cases made.
