Deep purple in color, the 2018 Fidelitas Red Mountain Cabernet explodes out of the glass with exuberant scents of warm black cherry, cinnamon covered blackberry plus hints of black licorice, dried rose petals and charcuterie. Medium-bodied, the palate brings exactness and poise, featuring a stunning frame of ripe and well-balanced tannins and audacious freshness. It finishes with a complex, long earthy flavor that I adore. It is a 100% Cabernet from the Quintessence and Fidelitas Estate vineyard and spent 22 months in 55% new French oak, a smidgeon of new American oak with the rest being neutral.
