I love how the team at Kiona is experimenting with different ways to produce, package and sell wine. The unique Fortuna is a multi-vintage wine with 24% Carmenere from 2017, 32% Malbec from 2018, and 44% Cabernet Sauvignon from 2019 creates a thought-provoking wine that deserves some attention and could pave the way for more MV wines in Washington State for the future. Red cherry, marionberry, pencil shavings, baking chocolate, minced sage and black pepper are all present and beautifully integrated with the balanced acidity and tannin. The finish is wonderfully fresh and very balanced and delivers a gorgeous lengthy finish.
