The 2020 Piolet Cabernet Sauvignon is a flat-out spectacular wine. Spending 24 months in 90% new French oak, this Red Mountain effort is ruby colored and shows prominent black raspberry on the nose. It possesses a great mouthfeel, showing off a polished and velvety tannic structure that gets you ready for what’s about to follow. Black cherry and blackberry comprise the fruit components that are seamlessly joined by notes of sweet tobacco, licorice, and leather. It shifts effortlessly from entry, through mid-palate, and then flashes just a bit of ripe plum on the enjoyable and lingering finish. No need to delay enjoying this wine, as it is approachable now and can continue shining for at least another 15 years. Only 100 cases produced.
