A blend of 52% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot that rests in 70% new French oak barrels. Another winner from winemaker Todd Alexander, the 2020 Epinette displays a deep garnet core with a purple rim and gifts notes of black currant, dark cherries, powdered graphite, tangerine oil, dried thyme, and cedar forest. Sweet chalky tannins and perfect levels of acidity help balance the black fruit and spicy finish. You need to give this wine some time and do yourself a favor, and don’t open it for a few more years. But if you can’t wait, give it a hard decant and let it rest for 5-6 hours (or overnight.) Highly recommended.
