AMBASSADOR Malbec, Red Mountain ‘Estate’ 2020

The 2020 Estate Malbec from Ambassador was in barrel for 22 months in 11% new French oak and comes from a combination of 78% Malbec, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Petit Verdot. It has that telltale Red Mountain nose of dried mountain sage that I love from wines of the area. Red plum, crushed black cherries, and Earl Gray tea flavors fill the palate. It’s still a baby with crunchy tannins and a bitter herb finish on the back palate, so give it until 2024 before opening. 225 cases produced.
