The 2020 Klipsun Syrah from Valdemar was aged in 30% new French oak barrels for 19 months and showcases a glistening dark purple core with a light blue rim. A lovely bouquet of boysenberry pie, crushed herbs, black olive, powdered spice, and mountain sage spills from the glass. Impeccably balanced between the lush fruit, the forest herbs, and the smoked meat aspects of the wine, it finishes with sweet tannins and mouthwatering acidity, and an amazing black pepper note on the back palate. Highly recommended.
