Composed of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 Kiona Vineyards Red Blend Estate Reserve is a well-constructed wine. Medium purple in color and giving up unripe plum on the nose, the mouthfeel on this wine is fantastic. Super soft and mouthcoating tannins introduce notes of black raspberry, black cherry, cocoa covered coffee beans and mild tobacco. With time in the glass, the tobacco and coffee bean notes continued to build and become the stars of the show. While this wine won’t make old bones, it is well put together and should provide enjoyment over the next 8 to 10 years.
