KIONA VINEYARDS Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain ‘Estate’ 2019

Spending 40 months in a variety of French, American and Hungarian oak (a total of 48% new), the 2019 Kiona Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Estate is a winner. With splashes of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petite Verdot (combined 14%), it sports a deep purple color and gives up aromas of oak and slight cherry. The classy entry shows off fine, enjoyable, and plentiful tannins, and pops with an assortment of fruit up front. Black cherry, marionberry, sweet tobacco, licorice and leather are all present and in abundance. As it transitions mid-palate to the finish line, it flashes some ripe plum and prune. It sports a 45 second finish and maintains its stature throughout the journey. Cellar for 2-3 years and then enjoy for the following 15+ years.
