The 2020 Suerte Solomon Hills is spectacularly complex and is aged for 17 months in 52% new French oak barrels and displays a beautiful medium ruby core with a cranberry rim. It presents that classic Solomon Hills note on the nose and is a deeper and richer Pinot Noir than some of the other Paul Lato lineup. Intricate characteristics of boysenberry, huckleberry pie, hoisin sauce, Christmas spice, graphite, and smoked Herbs de Provence jump from the glass. The just-as-interesting palate gifts flavors of black cherry, spiced blue plum, black tea leaves, and just a smooch of new leather. Racy acidity, medium levels of rounded tannins, and a black peppery spiced finish on the back palate help craft a lovely and delicious Pinot. 620 cases produced. Highly recommended.
