The 2021 Bien Nacido Optik Syrah is aged for 10 months in 40% new French oak barrels. A meaty and dark-fruit-focused wine that pops with aromas of black plum skin, cedary herbs, crushed peppercorn, pork charcuterie, and shades of leather and tobacco leaf. Brandied black cherries and dried beef play center stage on the palate. It’s wonderfully balanced between the acidity, tannins, fruit, and earthy notes.
