The 2019 ‘Hossfeld Coliseum’ is composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers inviting aromas of ripe red currants, cassis and cherries which are woven together with spices, crushed flowers and subtle hints of chocolate all taking shape. On the palate this displays a medium to full body that is well polished and shows notable concentration that leads up to the plush finish. Another excellent offering from Carter Cellars that should go on to evolve nicely over time, but allow it a few years in the cellar to flesh out.
