DEVISON Syrah, The Rocks District ‘Form and Function’ 2021

Grapes coming from the Naravane Vineyard, the 2021 Form and Function Syrah from Devison displays a beautiful glistening ruby-garnet core with a lighter purple rim. It’s vinified with 50% whole cluster, which gives it some added spice and structure. Complexity at its finest, the wine continued to evolve over the 20 minutes in the glass. Black-peppered charcuterie, crushed toasted black peppercorn, dark plum skin, scorched mountain herbs, and green olive tapenade tones are all present and wonderfully merged together. Impeccably balanced with sweeping acidity, lovely earth and spice tones, and rounded tannins complete this incredible wine. 60 cases made. Drink now or over the next decade. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
