C.L. BUTAUD Grenache, High Plains ‘Farmhouse Vineyard’ 2021

A shimmering light ruby core with a silvery rim, this almost looks like a dark Rosé in the glass. I don’t get the opportunity to taste many Texas wines, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the C.L. Butaud range of wines. It’s aged in neutral French oak barrels and displays aromas and flavors of lavender flower, red rose, red currant, bright Bing cherry, graphite powder, lemony herbs, and just a hint of citrus. It finishes with a wonderful raspberry and minty-focused aspect on the mid-palate. Only 103 cases made.
