DEVISON VINTNERS Syrah, Rocks District ‘Beneath the Stones’ 2019

Ok, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Peter Devison is the next up-and-coming wine making star in Washington State. Yes, he’s been making wine for a long time, but not on his own, and these wines from 2019 are unreservedly stunning. If you want top-quality Washington wine, at a very reasonable price, check these wines out. Trust me on this one. This 100% Syrah is foot stomped with 50% whole cluster and is aged for at least 18 months in neutral French oak. Displaying that incredible Rocks nose and is incredibly complete and balanced in style checks in at the top end of this vintage. Boysenberry, blueberry, ground pepper, black olive, smoked pork shoulder, dried thyme and a touch of grapefruit zest give way to a medium to full bodied wine with a terrific front, mid and end palate. It’s superb in every way and has a finish that goes on for miles. I need to find a few more bottles of this to cellar for the next decade as it will evolve beautifully in the cellar. Highly recommended.
