DEVISON Syrah, Walla Walla Valley ‘Beneath the Stones’ 2020

A brooding deep ruby-purple core in the glass with a neon pink rim, the 2020 Beneath the Stones Syrah from Devison is another prime example of Syrah done right in Washington State. The complex nose of black cherry, smoked brisket, hoisin sauce, orange zest, dusty country road, and cracked black pepper keeps you coming back for more. The palate brings additional notes of stewed blackberry, charcuterie, and black olive tapenade and a yummy earthy tone on the back palate. The balance and structure are flawless with mouthwatering acidity, combined with sweet crunch tannins, to create a wine that will be better in 2024 and will gracefully age for over a decade. Highly recommended.
