Resting in 20% new French oak, the Mongata 2020 Syrah comes from a high-elevation site on the south fork of the Walla Walla River. A bloody red and ruby core with a silvery rim the glass, it boasts aromas and flavors of sweet blue plums, black raspberry compote, freshly-struck flint, brewed black tea, cured meat, toasted black pepper, and signed mountain herbs. Spicy and meaty on the finish, it has ample acidity to back up the chewy tannins. A lovely wine.
