REYNVAAN Syrah, Walla Walla Valley 'Foothills Reserve' 2020

There is a big debate among wine lovers about the wines of Reynvaan in trying to decide if the vineyards surrounding the property, or the vineyards of The Rocks, produce the best Syrah. I fall in the camp of the Foothills Reserve, as I find it a bit more graceful and not as funky as The Rocks Syrahs. The 2020 Foothills Reserve is impeccably balanced, has beautiful tension throughout, and is the best wine I’ve had from the estate. If anyone doesn’t believe that Washington doesn’t produce some of the best Syrah in the world, they need to track down a bottle of this wine. Boastful notes of blueberry pie, freshly cooked bacon, crushed olives, dried sage, black plum skin, crushed volcanic rock, dried purple rose petals, and cigar ash are integrated perfectly. Acid, tannins, body, and structure are all perfectly in sync while the finish goes on forever. You want to sit here with this wine and study it, it’s so unique and so complex. I can’t find a fault in this wine, and for that reason, I highly recommended it and give it my Editor’s Choice.
