Inky purple in color, the 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Estate Merlot is a nicely constructed wine. Showing blackberry on the nose, it has a pleasant entry and mouthfeel, comprised of plentiful but settled tannins. Early on, it displays black cherry, blackberry, tobacco, and faint bittersweet chocolate. With time in the glass, red raspberry enters the picture and both bittersweet and milk chocolate show their stuff. Time in the bottle will be its friend, I would cellar this wine for one or two years and then it should have 10 years of good drinking ahead of it.
