One of the standouts of the lineup, and a screaming value, is the L’Ecole 2021 Syrah Seven Hills Vineyard. Spending 18 months in 25% new French oak (15% on stems), the double inky colored offering had a nose of violets and blackberry. The most settled of all the offerings tasted, it had a smooth and inviting tannic structure. The stacked entry featured notes of marionberry, blackberry, anise, and fennel. Mid-palate showed slight kalamata olives and white pepper. In never lost a step or any of its vibrancy as it proceeded to its 45 second finish. With great complexity and density, this is an offering that you want to get your hands on.
