The 2021 L’Ecole Red Blend Ferguson Vineyard Estate is a wine loaded with appeal and flavor. With a composition of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot, it has a deep garnet color and a nose of black cherry and slight oak. With fine but slightly grippy tannins up front, it exhibits an array of wonderful flavor on the palate upon entry. Loads of blackberry, black cherry, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate are all stacked and showing their stuff. With time in the glass, milk chocolate and arabica coffee bean appear mid-palate, and the black cherry remains from the early fruit component as the main character. It had a nice 30 second finish. I’d let the tannins settle with a few years of cellaring and then enjoy for 15+ years.
